What is a Faraday bag?
A Faraday bag is a pouch lined with layers of conductive metal fabric. The metal forms a continuous cage around whatever is inside, so radio waves can't get in or out. Seal a phone in one and it can't connect to a tower, a Wi-Fi network, a Bluetooth tracker, or a GPS satellite. To the outside world, the device stops existing.
How is it different from airplane mode?
Airplane mode is software. It asks the phone to stop transmitting — and malware, carrier updates, or a compromised OS can ignore the request. Baseband radios, NFC, and UWB chips can stay active. A Faraday bag is physics. Nothing inside can transmit regardless of what the software wants, and it works on devices with no off switch at all: keyfobs, trackers, RFID cards, SIM-based GPS units.
Do they actually work?
The bags we stock are tested to MIL-STD-188-125 and IEEE 299 shielding standards, with 60–80 dB+ of attenuation across 300 MHz–40 GHz. In practice: put your phone inside, seal it, and call it from another phone. Straight to voicemail. That's the only review that matters.
What about EMP and solar flares?
The same shielding that stops a cell signal stops the high-frequency pulse from an EMP or a severe geomagnetic storm. Backup phones, radios, hard drives, and hardware wallets stored in a sealed Faraday bag or DIY cage kit survive events that fry everything on the shelf next to them.
